Balinese character of the Wayang Wong, Merdah is the honnest and gullible son of Twalen (Rama’s servant). He is his father’s secretary and Rama’s servant. His function is to report the stories to the public. He loves holding conversations with his father and his vivid eyes reflect his eagerness to gain the same wisdom. His slender body and his nervous movements are the opposite to his father’s apathy. The various olden pipings and his marked features reflect both his jolly nature and the religious and sensible aspects of his personnality. Motherless, Merdah accompanies his father in his life and fate.
