Character of the Topeng, Penasar Kelihan is a "servant- narrator" whose role is very important during the whole of the representation. He is the youngest brother of Penasar Cenikan whose role is similar. Their main tasks consist in introducing the history behind the play and to translate Classic Javanese into popular Balinese . However these two characters have very different personnalities from one another.
Penasar Cenikan is a chatter box, serious and intelligent, as opposed to his brother Kelihan, more of a pompous and proud joker. They are both serving their master who would generally be one of the protagonists or a high class dignitary .
